2015-06-07Rob Roy's Minor Midgets took the crown in Simcoe over the weekend.
Barrie Minor Baseball Minor Midget Rep team (sponsored by Ice River Springs Water Co Inc & The Rocky Island Tire Co Inc & Cicco's Restaurant) participated in the Midget A tournament this past weekend in Simcoe Ontario.
After going 0-3 in the round robin - losing in close games to Richmond Hill, host team Simcoe and Bolton (in the round robin) they still managed to advance to the semi-finals on Sunday.
Being the underdogs ... pitcher Blake Faulds took the mound for Barrie and pitched a complete game allowing only 4 runs .. with Barrie winning 7-4 win over the Burlington Bulls and moved on to the championship game.
In the tournament finals Barrie again had to face off against the Bolton Braves. Pitcher Tyler Hopper pitched a completed game and kept the team spirits high. Game MVP Glen Abernethy hit 2 doubles to driving in 5 RBI's and clinching the team victory. Barrie was victorious in a 12-2 mercy rule win.
Head coach Rob Roy was very proud of the teams "never give up attitude"!! Barrie has a regular season record of 6-1-1 in the YSBA Minor Midget Tier 2 division.
